YAS Island’s primary objective was to double monthly organic traffic and revenue within 12 months. This was a very tough goal to achieve due to two planned website migrations. However, we had a rock-solid strategic plan in place not only to hit our KPIs but exceed them. In just 12 months, we increased monthly organic revenue by 549% and grew organic traffic by 196% from 16,497 sessions in August 2021 to 48,870 in August 2022. Overall, we were delighted to see that we successfully beat the primary revenue KPI by more than 208% and generated a vast 1,960% ROI.

HOW WE DID IT

  • Adopted a three-phase approach to support two migrations
  • Created a content calendar integrating our findings with their market insights
  • Moved component rendering to the server to fix the JavaScript frontend framework
  • Performed link-building outreach before, during, and after the migrations

With two migrations to come, we had no room for error. The first was a domain extension migration, which would then be followed by a complete site revamp. We adopted a three-phase approach to ensure we retained organic performance after the migration. The three phases were pre-migration (analysis, benchmarking, URL redirect mapping document, data storage), during migration (regular auditing, QA activities, bug reporting), and post-migration (audits and checks, monitoring and reporting activities, final bug fixing). During the migrations, we monitored errors using custom Google Sheets integrations and fixed issues in real-time. As this happened, we simultaneously supported YAS Island with new UI, UX, and content in readiness for the new site launch. From a link-building standpoint, our strategy focused on reactive link reclamation campaigns, generating 148 additional referring domains.
